British Values

British Values at HETTY

At HETTY Preschool, we actively promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect, and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs.

These values are embedded throughout our play-based EYFS curriculum, everyday routines and interactions. They are introduced in meaningful, age-appropriate ways and adapted to reflect each child’s stage of development and individual needs.

Children are supported to:

• express their views, make choices and understand that their voice matters
• listen to others, take turns and make decisions together
• understand why we have rules and boundaries to keep everyone safe
• develop confidence, independence and a positive sense of themselves
• treat others with kindness, fairness and respect
• recognise and celebrate the similarities and differences between people, families, cultures, faiths and beliefs

Through positive role modelling, inclusive resources, stories, conversations, community experiences and everyday play, we help every child feel safe, welcomed and valued. These experiences support children’s personal, social and emotional development and help prepare them positively for life in modern Britain.
