For Parents
Your Role as a Parent or Carer
Parents and carers are children’s first and most important educators. At HETTY Preschool, we value the knowledge you have of your child and recognise that children make the best progress when families and practitioners work together.
Our staff see themselves as partners in your child’s care, learning and development. We encourage open, honest and regular communication so that we can understand your child’s individual needs, interests, routines and experiences.
There are many ways you can become involved in life at HETTY, including:
- sharing information about your child’s needs, interests, routines, experiences and achievements
- keeping us informed about any changes at home that may affect your child
- talking regularly with your child’s Key Person about their learning, development and wellbeing
- sharing photographs, observations and special achievements from home
- contributing to our celebration board
- sharing your skills, interests, family traditions, culture or experiences with the children
- attending events, meetings and informal discussions about HETTY’s activities and curriculum
- giving feedback and sharing ideas to help us continually improve
- supporting fundraising and community activities
- building positive relationships with other HETTY families
We want every parent and carer to feel welcomed, listened to and included. Your views matter to us, and we will always make time to discuss your child’s care, learning, development or wellbeing.
By working together, we can provide consistency between home and HETTY and give every child the confidence, security and support they need to thrive.
