Frequently Asked Questions

What is HETTY?

HETTY is a charitable early-years setting established in 2007 to provide flexible childcare for families in our community. We offer preschool education, breakfast club, after-school care and holiday care.

Our setting is overseen by a Governing Body and has close links with Hoole CE Primary School.

What does HETTY stand for?

HETTY stands for Hoole Enterprise Trust – Time for You.

Can I visit HETTY before applying for a place?

Yes. We encourage families to visit, meet the team and explore our environment before making a decision. Please contact us to arrange a suitable appointment.

What childcare does HETTY provide?

We offer:

  • preschool morning, afternoon and school-day sessions;
  • half-day and full-day care;
  • breakfast club;
  • after-school care; and
  • separately bookable holiday care.

Availability may vary, so please contact us to discuss the sessions you require.

Is holiday care automatically included in my booking?

No. Holiday care must be booked separately and is subject to availability and sufficient demand.

Can funded hours be stretched across the year?

Where available, eligible funded hours may be stretched across more weeks of the year. Please speak to the HETTY team to discuss the options available and how the hours would be calculated.

Do you offer a sibling discount?

Yes. A 5% sibling discount is available for families with more than one child attending HETTY. The discount is applied to the second child’s fees, subject to our terms and conditions.

How will you help my child settle?

We recognise that every child settles differently. Before your child starts, we will gather information about their routines, interests, communication and individual needs.

Your child’s key person will work closely with you to plan a warm and reassuring introduction to HETTY. Additional visits or an individual settling plan may be arranged where helpful.

Will my child have a key person?

Yes. Every child has a named key person who develops a secure relationship with them and supports their care, learning, development and emotional well-being.

Your child’s key person will also be your main point of contact for everyday information and discussions about progress.

How do you support children with SEND?

HETTY is committed to ensuring that every child is known, valued and included. We identify emerging needs promptly and use the graduated Assess, Plan, Do, Review approach to plan and evaluate support.

We work closely with families and may seek advice from relevant health, education or local-authority professionals, with consent where appropriate.

Does my child need a diagnosis to receive support?

No. We do not wait for a formal diagnosis before responding to a child’s needs. Support and reasonable adjustments are based on the child’s individual strengths, development and any barriers they may be experiencing.

How do you keep children safe?

Safeguarding is central to everything we do. HETTY follows the EYFS safeguarding and welfare requirements and has clear procedures covering child protection, suitable people, first aid, medication, accidents, risk assessment, food safety and online safety.

All concerns about a child’s welfare are taken seriously and managed by our Designated Safeguarding Leads.

Can parents and carers get involved?

Yes. Families are an important part of our HETTY community. Parents and carers may be invited to read stories, share hobbies, talk about their work, introduce a language or cultural celebration, help with gardening or support a special activity.

What should I do if I have a question or concern?

Please speak to your child’s key person or a member of the management team. We welcome questions and feedback and will always try to resolve concerns promptly.

Our formal Complaints Procedure is available on the HETTY website.
